I am very confused. Is there a way to determine from the "Topics" page which threads are open and which are locked? Also, some of the most recent activity is on threads that, when I open, are not accepting new posts. Is there some kind of secret back way to circumvent the "closed" sign that I have to first prove myself worthy of knowing? Or should I sit patiently and all will be made known to me in time?

"Books You Don't Like" in the Head clash thread is one... both Cavebear and Thalion posted in it today. When I pull it up the first thing it says is that it's closed. I had some humdingers ready to put up there and everything!

Puffnpuss, you must have been trying to post to the archived part of the thread. Go one level up from there to the active page. Welcome, btw! :-)

Pine, that quote from your daughter is priceless! :D

OK, I see what you mean. The thread consists of 2 parts: an archive of 25 posts posted until December 10th, 2003, and an active part, currently containing 5 posts. The archive is read only, but you can post to the thread by scrolling down and posting in the "Add Your Message Here" window. You can quote from posts in the archived part of the thread and refer to posts there. The archives are formed automatically once a thread reaches a certain number of posts. Some threads have multiple closed archived sub-threads. Consider them previous pages of the same discussion.

Thank you both for clearing that up for me! I wondered what the previous link meant on those pages, and now I know. Such a speedy response, too.... gee...
