Does anyone else feel like we're on the edge of the "Crazy Years" in Heinlein's Future History stories? |

Ah! I missed that. Right over my head. I don't see Bush in that role, but setting it up. |

You may have noticed it on some level, AnnDee; otherwise why post that comment here rather than to one of the several other threads it could have gone to. As for B*** (sorry, autocensor) fitting the Prophet role, well, the man (apologies for abusing the word) publicly claims God speaks to him; and he got reelected despite/for(?) that! Take a second look at that picture… ATTENTION! We are planning to open a Procrastinators' Club! Sometime... |

publicly claims God speaks to him THE SCOTT, if you ARE speaking to the US Prez then why aren't you giving him more intelligent advice or commands? Or is this part of a secret scheme whereby Canada will eventually acquire its neighbors' more worthwhile assets to appease US creditors or stave off bankruptcy? "Gentlemen! You can't fight in here, this is the War Room!" - from Dr. Strangelove |

This is a worrying trend, if The Scott and The B*** team up we could really be in a lot of trouble!

Sorry I have been away - attending Bush's visit to Canada - NOT! The US has assets? I thought you ran out, started printing IOU's and then imported everything you needed? We have lots of assets, oh and a current account SURPLUS, a budgetary SURPLUS, and a 50 billion dollar trade SURPLUS and have had so for a number of years - so yes, when you are bankrupt, we won't lend you any money, but we will lend you a hand up. We will gladly accept any blue state, plus FL because we almost own it now anyway. We would like Alaska too, even though nepotism seems rampant there. In exchange we will cancel all your debts to us and give you Alberta. And Matt, intelligent advice is best not wasted on those without the intellectual capacity to receive it. We gods have our standards you know. Miisa, I wouldn't worry too much. He is in one of those competing religions, got born again and forgot to grow back up it would seem. He is always welcome in FICAS though - I am sure there are many that would like to induct him. Bush speaks to God Annie? And does God understand him I wonder? All I got to say is that we better not see any pink squids in his kitchen sink! I'll be watching! THE SCOTT ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Ces gens, Jondalar, ils sourient. Ils me sourient. - Ayla |

Scott: "We will gladly accept any blue state, plus FL because we almost own it now anyway. We would like Alaska too, even though nepotism seems rampant there. In exchange we will cancel all your debts to us and give you Alberta." (I sure wish we had a quick quote feature!) RISKopoly! (RISK because you're combining countries, Monopoly because you're trading, not invading.) Wouldn't giving us Alberta leave a large hole in the map of Canada? As for posting in this thread, I have only gotten my toes wet in Head Clash-In, and otherwise, this is/was the active thread. |

Yes, it would leave a hole, but it would be a much better fit. If Canada is going to acquire my homestate of Washington would you please get on the ball? I'm going to be greatly peeved if we spend thousands of dollars to emigrate only to have Washington state become Washington province a week after we move! |

Err... I lived in Alberta *before* King Ralph (yes, there was such a time) and I for one would not trade Alberta. But then, i'm only a dumb immigrant. I'd never trade Banff and Jasper, and Edmonton, and the rivers, and the lakes, and the Rockies, and the bears, and the wolves, and the cougars and ... someone stop me? Actually, I liked the people, too. Beats me that they should have changed so much during the Klein era. But then, from what I learned, they never quite forgave Trudeau for giving the finger to the Western provinces... I think 'acquiring' Washington, Montana and a few other states wouldn't be such a bad idea, if they would be willing to have the use of their guns restricted ... I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they pass by - Douglas Adams |

See, I just want in so badly I'm willing to trade anything--even Banff and Jasper! LOL. Okay, Alberta can stay, but please, please take the west coast of the US. Much obliged! |

I don't care about the hole AnnDee, it is an embarassment to live with so many narrow minded and quite frankly, stupid people. Thal, you are right, but a few more years of the type of right winged jerks running this province and there won't be any bears, wolves or cougars - they are being extirpated as we speak. Clear cuts, pipelines, coal-bed gas extraction, and a total anf flagrant dismissal of Kyoto.... No worries Firelands, the offer stands, we will take WA and OR for sure! OK, this is call for positions for FICAS. Anyone that is not a member wanna join? See me for the position and Ted to pay your dues! If anyone wants to change their position (don't ask to be Treasurer, that position is apparently for life and Ted is still hearty and hale, even at his advanced age), let me know, that can be arranged too. Scott, I love my post, but I feel that something more glamourous might be in order for the sister of a diety. Advisor I am, and that will never change, yet it doesn't seem to describe all my duties. Auntie to the Holy Child? One who can tell the Scott to Get Stuffed in every post without repurcussion? Treaty maker? BTW, I'm way better with money than Ted. I'm so honoured to have been accepted as the official church sceptic, a position I applied for a while ago, and it's appropriate in light of a recent debate . For now I have little comments on the manifest, as it's been stated in perfect sceptic language. I love the preamble! Everyone has a motive for giving arguments. But only the arguments given matter. |

I am quite satisfied with the duties of Secular Advisor and Grand Inquisitor. However, as author of the Constitution, it does seem to me that some minor re-writing and additional official functions could be added. Certainly, a few functionaries could use some assistants/staff, some functions may no longer be deemed needed these days, and possibly new ones are needed... I would be glad to take any suggestions for changes from The Great Scott and incorporate them for His Consideration when He Chooses. Machiavelli was pretty devious. For a guy... |

Indeed cavebear, you are welcome to suggest changes - you are after all the secular advisor and originator and esteemed author of the charter and Constitution! I will give it some thought too! The Scott ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Ces gens, Jondalar, ils sourient. Ils me sourient. - Ayla |
