FYI Google Chrome is a buttpain IMO (OMFG it's checking my fscking spelling!) However, it does have easy font settings and zooms nicely. I might keep it around a while. For testing. Now, back to K-Meleon. Whew. "A drum is empty always, and when the skin is rightly taut it gives right noise, right sound. Attention is like that." ~ Krishnamurti |

I wonder if it does Canadian too? I see it's not available for Mac yet, so must be crap. I understand that the tabs work like independent browsers, so that if you have a tab fail, the tab just disappears, not the whole browser. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Ces gens, Jondalar, ils sourient. You are fast, Matera! Yeah, it sucks. Hardly any customizability, very limited options, and the loading speed is nothing special either. I almost get the feeling it's meant to cater to people who started out their online experience by using one of the older versions of IE and are feeling nostalgic about one of those godawful browsers, probably due to difficulty in adapting to change (well, at least I can't think of any other reason). I ditched IE as fast as I could once I realized that most sites don't require IE for viewing. The less MS the better. I'm making plans to switch to a Mac... I intended to as soon as I stopped needing full compatibility between home and office, but my 2003 home PC has refused to die. LOL! Thank you, Carl Sagan and Richard Dawkins... |

No it was created with the idea of optimising software use over the net, instead of having a native installation on your comp. Apparently Chrome handles this much better, for example, if there is a crash, the tab is designed to crash, without affecting the stability of the browser or other tabs. Google seems to be going this direction - open source and over the net software. Congrats cavebear, welcome aboard! Mac users are generally smarter than windows users, that's why they chose Mac in the first place. You must be one of the stragglers - there are a few out there, even a few on this board perhaps. My only reason to use Windows was that my office did. It was just easier to maintain strict compatibility, especially because I was doing some work at home with direct connection to my office network and working from home was a great benefit. Thank you, Carl Sagan and Richard Dawkins... |

The new Firefox version (3.0.1) has been released a few days ago, with a seriously improved loading speed and a few other extra gadgets that I haven't really looked into yet. I continue to prefer Opera for most sites, for its ease of site-based security management, but for the specific sites where quick graphic loading matters, at the moment I've ditched Safari in favor of the new Firefox. It's FAST! Google Chrome also seems to be loading a little faster than in the first days - maybe they are working on it. It has a long way to go to become a competitive browser, but it's still only a Beta after all. Chess is the purest form of debate, unadulterated by a topic. |

Also, seems like a good place to mention that I have ordered a Mac Pro in order to ditch my 2001 Windows PC with all its accumulating problems. Aside from switching to a Mac, I'll be going from an 18 Gb hard drive to dual 500 Gb drives) one strictly for back up), to dual processors, to Mac software iWorks and Aperture (vs Photoshop) in a few days. I don't know how fast I'll learn the new system and software. Even the easiest system will take some time. So if I am "gone" a few days, that's way. I plan to leave the PC running standalone while I transfer files to the Mac. The thing I missed in the planning, though was that I'm going to use the existing ViewSonic monitor for the new Mac. Oops, that leaves me 1 moniitor for 2 computers! I'm going to be switching it from 1 to the other computer a LOT. LOL! Maybe I can rent a 2nd monitor for a few days... If not, I can keep changing the monitor plug. Still, I think that switching to a Mac is the best decision I've made in years (computerwise)... When the switch occurs, I hope to be seeing you "as soon as possible". Should be a few days from now, though. Thank you, Carl Sagan and Richard Dawkins... |

Congrats Cavebear! Well get another monitor but make sure it is Mac compatible. Macs can use more than one monitor you know.......nothing fancy required. Scott ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Ces gens, Jondalar, ils sourient. Ils me sourient. - Ayla |

Ah well, I just need to move the monitor back and forth for a day while I transfer files. Awkward, but temporary. I'll live... LOL! A rental would be easier though. I wonder if a thrift shop or Salvation Army sells a monitor cheap? Might be worth checking. I could always donate it back to them after. Thank you, Carl Sagan and Richard Dawkins... |
