A few days ago I tried quoting a text that contained another quote (I needed both for my reply, so I couldn’t skip the latter one.), but got an error message. Quoting the post without the second quote worked however. Did I make a mistake or is it not possible to quote a post that contains another quote? |

Using single quotes or even brackets may help clarify things without causing punctuation repetition problems. For example: Bill said that "Fred objected to John's statement 'A equals B in this situation' by pointing out that B equaled C and C did not equal A".
Last night I played a blank tape at full blast. The mime next door went nuts. |

Testing: first, a simple quote.

Works for me. You have to type in the formatting manually, though, and paste only the text. Did you remember to put two } brackets at the end? |

Would it be possible to have a "quoting" button, perhaps next to the "link" button? Thinking is the work of the intellect, dreaming its enjoyment. - Victor Hugo |

Just practicing a little formatting here but I do think Darisina's suggestion is a good one, given the amount of quoting that goes on around here. "It takes all kinds to make a world and I'm just one of them." My Grandmother |

I know, I know... but I'm so terribly out of everything (meaning stressed out, busy, just flat on my face) that I have prescribed myself board abstinence for a while. When I'm capable of doing a project again, and the quote button does require a bit of programming, this will be my first and foremost priority. I love deadlines. Good enough for me. Life is meant to be enjoyed, not simply endured. "It takes all kinds to make a world and I'm just one of them." My Grandmother |
