On my screen the page settings of the current chapter of Cavebear's chronicles seem to be screwed up somehow. The text exceeds the normal width. Maybe it's only my computer, I don't know. All the other threads look fine though. Does anybody have a similar problem?

I think it's because of the pictures in his last post. They stretch the page just a little (on my compy, it's not much) and that modifies all the previous posts.

I'm not sure what to do to correct that because it shows up OK on my screen.

No worries, cavebear, it isn't that important. Most important is that I am able to read it at all. I'm looking forward to reading your next report.

It stretches my page too, (19" screen) because I keep my favorites bar open. CB, what you can do is resize the pictures, and repost them somewhat smaller. :-)

Yeah, but it's not really a big deal. The pictures are a great addition. :-)

I compressed the horizontal of the sketched drawings to 80%. Let me know if that helped. They seem readable to me that way, but I'm not sure about on other screens...

I don't want people to have to scroll back and forth to read the text. That really annoys me when I have to do it, so I don't want to force that on anyone else.

If anyone is still having a problem, mention it here and I will try and fix it, and I will ask the computer gurus to help me if I can't.

Sorry, CB, it still doesn't work properly for me (21'' monitor, no favourites bar opened, letter size is middle). Thanks for your efforts!

That's annoying and regrettable. If anyone has some suggestions to try, please post them here.

It works perfect for me with letter size 'bigger". I had only problems using my usual size 'very big'. 17" monitor.

CB, did you upload the resized pictures to your VillagePhotos account? Perhaps you also have to edit the post and renew the links to the pictures. I see no difference from before at all.

I changed the size of the pictures on my hard drive and uploaded them to VillagePhotos to replace the existing ones. I changed the text on one and that change showed up.

Maybe there is some picture still large that I have not noticed?

Hi Cavebear,

I just pulled your TTDCaveEntrance.jpg off in Photoshop and the dimensions are way too big at 744 pixels wide/26.25 cm.

The posting part of the screen is optimised for aboutm 17 cm at 800 x 600 resolution.

Scott - Thank you, I see the problem now. My monitor is set for 1280 x 768 pixels. I compressed my images enough so they showed properly on my monitor, not realizing how they would show on other monitor settings.

What size in pixels should I make my pics? I can't tell by looking at my own monitor since they show OK there.

Don't know about the size, but I just noticed that you don't have to resize on your hard drive and reload; VillagePhotos offers a resizing option for already uploaded pictures - press the 'Image URL and Tools' link under the picture and scroll down. It's expressed in pixels, too, so once you have the answer to that, this would be simplest. :-)

Hadn't seen that. I tried on one of the pics, did it work?

All three pics look the same size to me. The good news is, they fit in my screen now, even with the favorites bar. :-)

My resolution is 1024 x 768, btw.

Since yours is the same screen as mine, we can't tell what others are seeing (or not seeing). I'm glad my images fit on your screen at least, though.

The net displays pics at 72 pixels per inch or 28.8 per cm. Since the screen for posting at normal screen resolution is 17 cm, then try 490 pixels or less (width). Checking the suggested max size in the Discuss software, it is preset at 480 width, so actually go with that instead, and lets see what happens. There is an html sol'n, but let's try this, as I am having trouble with html in the message body.
