As some of you know I'm very interested in the Neolithic era, especially Catalhoyuk. I recently finished The Goddess and the Bull which documents the history of Catalhoyuk from its rediscovery by James Mellaart to the current excavations by Ian Hodder. I know Catalhoyuk is considerably younger than much of the group's focus, but for those of you interested in learning more about the era I highly recommend the Goddess and the Bull. It's a terrific intro to the topic, but definitely has a lot of substance and new info in case you already know something about the subject.

The author also refers to a book called After The Ice. It wouldn't surprise me if it had already been discussed here, but in case it hasn't it uses the device of time travel to take the reader to a variety of prehistorical sites daring back to 20,000 BC. I've only skimmed it so far, but very interesting. The section on Cathalhoyuk was surprisingly dark.
