All:

The October issue of National Geographic(for those of you who have access), has a feature on the reconstruction of one of the last Neandertals. It's a female, and they show some other stuff, too. You can also click on a link about a National Geographic show called The Neanderthal Code, which might or might not be worth watching.

Anyway, here's the link:

http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/featurehub

It also has a picture of the reconstruction. Not what I would have done, but. . . .

I'll probably watch it, but I'll bet I am disappointed... The new "Nat Geo" channel has really been twisting evidence for dramatic affect the last few years.

I will bet dollars to doughnuts that they attempt to make Neandertals look "JUST LIKE US".
Thank you, Carl Sagan and Richard Dawkins...

Cavebear:

Judging by the few clips I've seen, and the reconstruction I pointed you to, I'm not so sure. But if you like, let us know what you think.

I will definitely be watching the show. I'm just concerned by the advertisements which appear to show Neandertals turning into Cro-Magnons/Modern Humans and fear that is the conclusion of the show without solid evidence.

And National Geographic's science show quality has been fading ever since they started referring to themself as "Nat Geo". I suspect that is a marketing effort to gain a wider audience, but that is just a vague concern, nothing evidential.

I'm just saying that I don't trust their factual honesty the way I used to...

Cavebear:

Now that you've seen the show, what did you think of it?
